"Sylvester and the Magic Pebble" is a must read. Whether you choose to incorporate into a William Steig author study, or just to choose to share this one book, here are a few reading response activities. They can be used at independent reading centers or after a read aloud as a whole group activity.
Common Core promotes higher order thinking skills. These are designed with differentiated levels in mind and open response promoting those higher order thinking skills. In other words, students can select which one to complete as a center, too. I would not necessarily require ALL for completion.
Choice is empowering!
