This Symbiosis Classification Worksheet features 23 ecological interactions for students to classify. Students decide whether the type of symbiosis is intraspecific competition, interspecific competition, mutualism (++), commensalism (+0), amensalism (0-), parasitism (+-), predator-prey (+-), or herbivory (+-). Students write the symbols (+, -, or 0) over the underlined species featured in the scenario to show how each one is affected in the interaction. Students then write the correct classification on the blank line next to the numbered scenario. I provided a symbiosis interaction word bank near the top of the front page.
I included two student versions of the worksheet. One is generic and the other version gives the teacher the option to insert actual student names in the slots where there is blue-colored font. I teach in a small town and am the only science teacher grades 7-12. I have had students at least three years in class before I assign them this fun personalized version of the activity.
I also provided a full-page key with the answers in red font.
This PDF file will become editable upon conversion to Microsoft Word using an Adobe Acrobat Reader app.
