This lesson on Symbolism or Allegory can be used with or without Interactive Student Notebooks (ISN). I use it in my Short Stories unit with "Masque of the Red Death" by Edgar Allan Poe, but it is compatible with any text.

What You Get:

1. ISN spread & student sample

2. An anticipatory set using Tootsie Roll Pops (or Blow Pops) to teach students how to analyze a symbol

3. Introductory PPT to help students compare symbolism and allegory

4. Guided notes and student practice for ISNs

5. Traditional worksheet version
