Product Description

This is a 13 slide Power Point that discusses Symbolism in Art. It defines symbolism, it briefly discusses how it is used in artworks by Pablo Picasso and Frida Kahlo, how animals can be used as symbols and then narrows to how Native American cultures ( Iroquois, Navajo and Hopi) use turtles as a symbol. At the end of the Power Point it introduces a ceramic turtle art project but does not go into detail about the project. I will post additional materials for the ceramic turtle lesson soon which will include : written lesson plan (with daily instructions, assessment rubric with answer key and standards), an Intro to Clay Power Point, a video showing how to make the ceramic turtle, a clay assessment and a word search for early finishers.

This lesson has been tested on 2nd and 3rd grade students but can be used with students up to 8th grade. The power point will take anywhere from 5 - 15 minutes to view depending on class discussion. This is intended to be used with a ceramic turtle art lesson. The entire ceramic turtle lesson takes approximately 3 - 4 50 minute class periods. If using it with a model magic turtle lesson it could be completed in 3 lessons.

Feedback is welcomed. I am still learning how to create a bundle on this lesson.
