Symmetry Draw & Write Animals
Teaching the children about Symmetry can sometimes be difficult. Using pictures of things they know can help. Children relate to animals so easily so it seemed a perfect fit.
Just print and go.
How we use these:
After we do a modeling lesson about how to finish the drawing and write a sentence, we put these into our Science Center. After they finish all of them. we have them make a cover and staple them together. They have an Animal booklet that they half illustrated and wrote to take home and read to their parents.
Ha, Ha, half illustrated!
** Some of the directions tell the children to draw a tail on the animal. We understand it is not true symmetry, but it also adds a “follow directions” element to some of the drawings.***
Enjoy the fun creations the children come up with. This by far is one our favorite activities. No only does it teach about symmetry but it also teaches the students that they are just learning how to draw and not everything they do needs to be perfect. All they need to do is their best.
This is a single copy purchase for one classroom only.
