Symphony Orchestra PBL for the Music Room {Distance Learning}


Description
Looking for a fun and interactive way to have students explore classical music, learn about musical careers, and make musical choices? In this PBL, or project-based learning, students choose a location and theme for their orchestra program, and then choose pieces to program!
This PBL includes:
- Overview of project-based learning (including information about PBL, how PBL is different from projects, and how it can work in the music classroom)
- Lesson summary for the PBL: Includes summary for 10 mini-lessons, as well as extension ideas
- Overview of this PBL: Includes topic, grade level, driving question, entry event, overview, real life/ community connection, technology, integration, how students revise, and how students share
- Materials needed: Includes materials needed, technology needed, and links to Google Slides templates and YouTube playlists
- Standards covered: Includes NCCAS standards and state of Ohio music standards (if you live in another state, the Ohio standards could help you decide how your state standards align)
- Detailed overview of the PBL: More details for objectives, entry event, "real life" connection, technology, integration, how students share, how students revise, and extension
- Printable packet for students: Includes worksheets for the following:
- Title page
- Choosing a location
- Choosing a theme
- Choosing music
- Calculating time
- Revising musical selections
- Revising time
- Program reflection
- Link to digital version in Google Slides
Note: The page count includes the program files in Google Slides, but not the worksheets in Google Slides.
