This project was designed with multiple goals in mind for AP Language although it can be used in a regular English class since it meets several Common Core Standards. First, it exposed students to contemporary newspaper columnists and current events. Second, it gave them text to analyze writing style. And, third, it taught them how to type a document in MLA Annotated Bibliography--although it's not really an annotated bibliography, which I explain the difference to them. Included in this packet are the instructions for the students, instructions for typing an annotated bibliography, a sample of the project, and the scoring rubric. I assign this project after we have covered style analysis writing and persuasive techniques.
