This product created by Heather Bates, SLP was designed to improve student's vocabulary skills through the use of synonyms. In this smartboard activity students are given a word and letters that are scrambled. Students have to unscramble the letters to come up a synonym for the given word. On the following slide students are given 4 words that are similar in meaning and they have to order them from weakest in meaning to strongest in meaning. This is a great activity to target the common core standard of “distinguishing shades of meaning among verbs and adjectives”. Some of the words targeted are: big, small, beautiful, mad, happy, nice, mean, messy, clean, cold, hot, slow, and quick. There are total of 20 synonym groupings. Students will love the interactiveness of this activity.
