This activity is three separate domino activities. There are 23 pairs of synonyms and 23 pairs of antonyms geared towards third grade, but can be used with other grades depending if they are higher or lower functioning. There is 17 pairs of basic antonyms which would be geared towards preschool/kindergarten or first grade, as well as low functioning students. There is a page with synonyms/antonyms where students need to determine if the word pairs are synonyms or antonyms (using the words geared towards third grade). You can use this sheet before the dominoes to introduce students to the words or after as additional practice. There is also a page for students to write down the synonyms and a separate page for the antonyms.
If you are not working with a group and there are too many domino cards for just two people you can make sure you begin with the card that says start but don’t need to use all the cards at the end of the deck. You can also only start with several cards per student and then put the rest in a pile for students to take one card after they put down a card. Just make sure you put the cards in order so that the cards you need are in your piles and not in the pile that no one has!
You can print the dominoes on color paper to add some color and also to help you differentiate between the three different sets. You can laminate the pages to guarantee they last for many years!
