This activity incorporates the study of synonyms and antonyms. To begin, collect paint chips from your local hardware store. Write a word that you would like your students to investigate on the top of the chip. Instruct students to use a thesaurus to find synonyms for the target word. Then students can practice using these synonyms by writing sentences. Next, provide students with target words for antonyms. Have students investigate antonyms and record their antonym pairs on the leaves. Once the paint chips and the leaves are complete, create a flower garden as seen in the photographs below. Enjoy!
