Need engaging & fun activities to get your students excited about learning synonyms? This game is for you! Zero worksheets and very little prep!
In Synonym Slam, students are put in groups of 3-4 (can be modified for smaller groups too). Each group has a set of 15 synonyms that are cut apart. The teacher will read a direction from the teacher script. Ex: "Slap the synonym for happy." Each group slaps the synonym - cheerful! The first student to slap the correct synonym gets to keep the card. Then you move on to the next direction. The student with the most cards at the end is the winner!
The kids will LOVE this game because they are practicing synonyms WITHOUT having to do a paper/pencil worksheet. I have included two versions of the game, so you can play twice. You can also modify the activity to play with small groups.
