Product Description
One of the ways for children to step up in their literacy is to expand their vocabulary. Sometimes they struggle to come up with another word besides, 'big' or 'tall'. Synonym Spurs is designed with activities to describe things that fall in these 5 categories: Nature, Animals, Buildings, Plants and Objects. So the child learns these vocabulary words in their immediate environment within context. There are lots of fun activities with illustrations to guide the child to learn these new words. For example, a humongous pumpkin, a giant scarecrow, a colossal pumpkin patch; fun activities to work on the synonyms of 'huge'. You can use this to increase oral and written vocabulary. This will be a great material to use with books about the Titanic or the Blue Whale or the Selfish Giant.

There are about 20 synonyms of 'huge' taught and illustrated in these pages including a title page, 1 page of doodle some drawings, 2 pages of unscramble the words with pictures, a 15 word search, 2 practice worksheets, some writing using these adjectives, trivia on the largest ocean, country, sea animal, desert, etc and a "Do you know page" which would spark great interest and fact find in learning about the giant katydid, the giant pink slug and the Galapagos tortoise. Craft ideas and games are found on page 4 like using 'duck, duck, goose' or using lego for spelling.

9 is a quiz; for example.....saw a _______ giraffe, what a _______ kangaroo, etc.
10-11 is a science page on sorting and fact-finding on a Giant Katydid, Gaint Pink Slug and the Galapagos Tortoise.
12- Description of the largest flower, Titan Arum. Write your own questions and ask your partner orally.
13 is a trivia on world's largest or largest in the US- fun as a class
14-17 are answer sheets.
