A great activity for students learning synonyms. This puzzle contains pairs of synonyms in the form of a 4 x 4 grid. The students must match up the words with their corresponding synonym to complete the grid. Roman numerals are also included in the middle of the pieces so that a teacher can quickly check if the student is correct.
There are two versions of the puzzle included. One version is easier where the edge pieces are given. The other version of the puzzle does not clearly give the edge pieces and repeats some of the words. This allows for practice of the student's inductive reasoning and critical thinking skills when putting the puzzle together. The puzzles can be used in succession as reinforcement of the material (the pairs of antonyms are the same in both). When using the puzzles we have found it useful to give credit for students who complete the puzzle and extra credit for those who finish first.
Your purchase includes a PDF file of the puzzles. Although it isn't necessary for use, it is recommended you print the puzzle on cardstock and have it laminated prior to cutting it out so it can last for years to come.
