Synonyms and Antonyms
This game is designed to help students understand, brainstorm and record antonyms and synonyms.
Students read a word and then roll a die to determine whether to write a synonym or an antonym. If done in a group, I like to brainstorm options and have each child choose the antonym or synonym that he/she finds most powerful. In doing so, students carefully consider word meanings and support one another in developing vocabulary.
This file includes:
★ A simple poster defining synonyms.
★ A simple poster defining antonyms.
★ Four Read, Roll and Write sheets.
★ A template for a die.
Even if you give each student the same sheet, their answers will be different, based upon the rolls of their die. For this reason, I find this activity handy as a simple in-class assessment.
Many thanks for stopping by and taking a look!
