Allow your students to analyze, and problem solve their way to understanding System of Equations.
Students work to put the strips in order to solve the System. Much like a puzzle they have to figure out how the strips solve a system in order. Half the strips are the computation and half strips are the communication. The communication uses vocabulary to describe what is happening in each step of the solution process. They have to think about what is being shown in the strips and find the next computational step based on what is being shown.
This creates a class set of materials that can be used year after year!
