Hello Math Teachers! Worksheet on determining if a given ordered pair is a solution to a system of equations. Focus on analyze and solve pairs of simultaneous linear equations. Identify if points satisfy both equations simultaneously. Includes two questions with graphing systems of equations demonstrating no solution and infinitely many solutions.

10 multi-step questions, 2-sided worksheet in PDF format with key.

I use this worksheet with my 8th grade Pre-Algebra classes as a homework or classwork activity. Would also be a great introductory assignment for Algebra 1.

Math Standards: Aligned with common core standards and item specifications for Floridaโ€™s FSA. 8.EE .C.8 HAS-REI.C.6 MAFS.912.A-CED.1.3, MAFS.912.A-REI.3.5, MAFS.912.A-REI.3.6, PARCC, CST, TEKS, CCSS HSA-CED.A.3 MAFS.8.EE.3.8a Understand that solutions to a system of two linear equations in two variables correspond to points of intersection of their graphs, because points of intersection satisfy both equations simultaneously.

Solve systems of linear equations exactly and approximately (e.g., with graphs), focusing on pairs of linear equations in two variables.
Solve real-world and mathematical problems leading to two linear equations in two variables. For example, given coordinates for two pairs of points, determine whether the line through the first pair of points intersects the line through the second pair.
Solve systems of two linear equations in two variables algebraically, and estimate solutions by graphing the equations. Solve simple cases by inspection. For example, 3๐˜น + 2๐˜บ = 5 and 3๐˜น + 2๐˜บ = 6 have no solution because 3๐˜น + 2๐˜บ cannot simultaneously be 5 and 6.
Understand that solutions to a system of two linear equations in two variables correspond to points of intersection of their graphs, because points of intersection satisfy both equations simultaneously.
