This is a project-based assessment over Solving a System of Linear Equations
. The student is given a scenario such as "Josh currently has $200 in his savings account and is depositing $50 per month. His brother Jorge currently has $300 in his savings account and is depositing $25 per month." They are to find the variables, write an equation for each situation, create a table of values (graphing calculator could be used) and a graph. Then they answer two questions such as "At what time are the two hot air balloons at the same height? What is that height or Which hot air balloon lands on the ground first? At what time does that occur"?
They complete their project on a poster board appr. 17" x 22". This project can be completed in one 53 minute class period. Complete directions for the student and 4 different scenarios are included as well as photos of the completed project (which serve as the key as well), directions for the teacher and a grading rubric. Please download the preview to see a photo of a completed project. 8 pages.
