In this activity, students practice writing systems based on story problems, and vice-versa.
Student 1 reads the story problem, and write a system based on the problem.
Student 1 then folds the paper so that only the system is visible, not the story problem.
Student 1 passes the paper to student 2.
Student 2 then writes a word problem based on the system shown, and folds the paper so that only their word problem is visible, not the system.
Students keep writing, folding, and passing until the strip is completed. They are not asked to solve the systems, but you may add that as an extension.
I have included 8 word problems.
This is an editable Word doc, so you can use this as a template and add your own situations.
