This sequencing activity will provide your students with an engaging opportunity to solve systems of equations using the substitution method.
To complete the activity, students will start by solving the first system given on their student worksheet (I usually have them do this on a separate piece of paper). If done correctly, their solution will be at the top of a card on the next page. Students cut the card with the correct solution on it out and paste it into the next available spot on their worksheet (scissors and glue required) before solving the system on this new card and continuing on with the activity. Learners are finished when they have pasted all cards onto their worksheet in the appropriate order.
**Please note: Systems of equations with infinite and no solutions are NOT included in this activity.**
This no-prep resource includes directions, a student worksheet, cards for students to paste in sequential order, and a worked-out answer key. ALL BUT 2 of the questions in this activity are shown in the preview – check it out to determine if this activity is at the appropriate level of rigor for your students!
