In this scavenger hunt activity, students will practice solving systems of linear equations using substitution and/or elimination. Post the 16 practice problems around the classroom ahead of time. Students start at different locations around the classroom. Students will show all work in the provided workspace and use the answer they find to determine the next problem they must complete. The scavenger hunt has been developed so that common mistakes may lead to an incorrect location. No solution and infinite solutions are included. The activity is complete when students complete all 16 practice problems in the correct order.

Analyze and solve pairs of simultaneous linear equations.
Solve systems of two linear equations in two variables algebraically, and estimate solutions by graphing the equations. Solve simple cases by inspection. For example, 3𝘹 + 2𝘺 = 5 and 3𝘹 + 2𝘺 = 6 have no solution because 3𝘹 + 2𝘺 cannot simultaneously be 5 and 6.
