TALK to the Text is a resource that guides annotation, engages close reading, and encourages active reading for any work of nonfiction, fiction, and poetry.

The acronym provides a series of four higher-level thinking tasks and directives for students to contemplate while reading any work. You can provide students with the TALK to the Text flipbook to use with fiction, nonfiction, and poetry throughout the year, or you can give students a task card with one set of tasks specific to one genre. There are four tasks associated with the TALK guide. Students can complete one of each, or they can complete several depending on the length of the reading assignment.

This download includes the TALK to the Text Flipbook in color and black and white and the TALK to the text task cards in color and black and white.
