TED Talks provide the perfect opportunity to improve student listening skills, conversational skills, vocabulary and their expression of opinions.
This lesson is great for practicing present perfect questions and talking about life experiences.
In this well thought out 9 page work sheet, students will complete the following:
Section 1 - Before watching activities to stimulate student interest and activate previous knowledge and understanding related to vocabulary. This includes discussion questions and recognition of personality adjectives.
Section 2 - students will watch the video.
Section 3 - Students will complete vocabulary activities to cement understanding the vocabulary used in the video. They will learn the vocabulary through context and quotes from the video are provided.
Section 4 - Is an open discussion section where students will have the opportunity to use the new vocabulary when discussing how the topic relates to their own lives.
Section 5 - Is a vocabulary review section. Students will complete a crossword puzzle to demonstrate understanding of definitions.
Section 6 - Grammar focusing on the present perfect tense.
Section 7 - Writing focusing on using the present perfect tense to discuss their own lives.
