Product Description

Differentiated writing, reading, speaking and listening activities are an important skill-building part of any English classroom. This no prep TED talk activity sequence for high school students encourages student engagement, critical thinking, and rhetorical analysis of multimedia nonfiction texts.

Whether you use this resource as a back-to-school activity, a stand-alone lesson, or an analysis and classroom discussion resource, this resource is sure to engage learners while holding them to high expectations!

I created this resource for my English 10 students who LOVE all things visual and technology-based. This activity builds nonfiction reading, analysis, listening and discussion skills as students think about topics such as the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, social justice, creativity, the "war on drugs," apathy, and more!

Nine different response slide options, as well as guided response and analysis questions for each TED talk allow you to differentiate for your classroom and individual student needs! Digital resources have been pre-linked and are ready-to-use! #SaveTime

Two TED talk choice boards (2 Slides, 1 Page) give you two pathways for students to access their chosen texts. One comes pre-linked to open-ended rhetorical analysis slides and the other comes pre-linked to targeted listener response questions for each text.

Rhetorical analysis and synthesis slides (8 Slides, 8 Pages) are carefully scaffolded to move students through rhetorical analysis process, beginning with "what" the author is saying and moving to "how" the author is persuading his or her audience, and ending with student response and synthesis!

TED talk listener response questions (9 Slides, 9 Pages) allow students to pull out key details and respond to each author's ideas. Answer keys are included (9 Pages) to save you precious time!
