This poetry unit includes a PowerPoint presentation on Alfred Lord Tennyson and three of his poems, In Memoriam, A.H.H., Mariana, and The Lady of Shalott. The presentation includes paintings representing Mariana and The Lady of Shalott and requires the students to compare the imagery and symbolism in the paintings with the imagery and symbolism in Tennyson's poems.
The unit also includes notes pages for students to follow along and fill in as you are reviewing the PowerPoint presentation. In addition, the unit includes discussion questions for Tennyson's poetry, a quiz on Tennyson's poetry, and a key to the quiz.
My students enjoyed comparing and contrasting the paintings with the poems, and I hope that your students will enjoy this unit as well. This unit is part of my larger Victorian Poetry unit, and I will be posting other portions of my Victorian Poetry Unit for sale.
