Are you looking for a great way to get students excited about standardized testing? If so these Secret Detective Badges work well!
Like me, you probably are not a big fan about standardized testing but it is something our students have to do. I have found that developing creative ways to pull students encourage students and doesn't make the testing experience seem so negative.
In my classroom, before we start testing we talk about what it means to be a secret detective and I make an anchor chart.
How to be a Secret Detective during testing:
-Use our schema when answering questions.
-Be sneaky to find the clues or hidden answers.
-If you find something tricky try your best to solve it.
-Look back and find the evidence to check your work.
-Check it again!
-Look at and read things carefully.
-Be quiet so that you are able to concentrate.
-Show up and have good attendance.
You can create a reward system to further encourage students. You could even use these to guide students to problem solve and persevere all year long!
I put each child's picture on the badge and their fingerprint. (Students love how personal the badges are!) I uploaded this as a word document so you could edit your task. Students love that you use their last name because it sounds professional. After the badges are finished I laminate them and add yarn. You can also use name badges and just slide the paper into it.
If you want to get your students ready for their tests in an exciting way, try these!
