If you and your class watch CNN Student News regularly, you may want to consider this product.
This is a daily, updated, 10-question (multiple choice & true/false) current events quiz that corresponds to the most recent edition of CNN Student News. I plan to have these quizzes available for each and every new edition of CNN Student News that is posted on CNN’s website. CNN Student News tends to post their newest edition between 7-8 p.m. EST (for the following day). I should have my “10 for 10” quiz for that episode posted within a couple hours after that (though there is a possibility it could be a bit later from time to time). Please note that your purchase is for my most recent “10 for 10” quiz which should correspond to the most recent edition of CNN Student News; your one time purchase does not include the ability/right to download every “10 for 10” quiz I post, you will need to purchase each “10 for 10” quiz separately. Please check the uploaded picture/title page of my “10 for 10” quiz and check the date on the title page, this will let you know whether or not the “10 for 10” quiz corresponds to the most recent edition of CNN Student News available.
I have used Student News for the past five years in my history/social studies classes once a week (though I know some teachers who use it daily) to keep students up-to-date with current events. I absolutely love it because it does an excellent job of covering current affairs in each 10 minute episode, and best of all, it is TOTALLY FREE! Just “Google” CNN Student News, click on the link, and stream each daily edition onto your laptop, Promethean Board/SMART Board, and/or student laptops/iPads. The CNN site provides free vocabulary lists/maps, discussion questions, and guides -but- because current events is only a small part of what I do in each of my classes, many of the materials CNN provides would eat into much of the time I have devoted for teaching my actual subject matter. SOOO…since CNN Student News has nothing in the way of a daily quiz for each episode…I am offering my product for purchase. It’s quick, it’s easy, and it doesn’t take much time to grade!
I typically give my quizzes following a viewing of CNN Student News. You could have students take the quiz while viewing the episode, allow them to take notes to use on the quiz after viewing, or have them complete the quiz from memory.
Each “10 for 10” quiz includes a title page, the “10 for 10” quiz (student copy) and “10 for 10” quiz (teacher key/copy). I would like to charge less than $3 per quiz -but- since Teachers-Pay-Teachers requires a minimum $3 purchase, I am charging $3 so that you’re not forced to buy other products you may not want or need. If the site lowers the minimum purchase price, I will likely lower the price for my “10 for 10” quiz as well.
