The Giver - Summative Task - "Sources of Inspiration"
A unique and creative summative task for a unit on The Giver.
Students are introduced to the concept that an author's inspiration can sometimes come for his or her life experiences.
Students then must analyze a variety of speeches made by Lois Lowry over the years and attempt to draw parallels between events and experiences within her life to elements of The Giver.
Included is the task sheet, assessment rubric, peer assessment sheet, two complete student samples, as well as copies of Lowry's speeches. 338 pages in total.
Suitable for any upper middle school level English or IB MYP Language A curriculum.
