These four tests on The Kite Runner are designed to motivate students to read. Students who are current with their reading should find these tests relatively easy. Success on each test provides students with an incentive to keep reading. On each test, the questions are divided into two sections: literal comprehension questions followed by analytical comprehension questions.
Test #1 covers pages 1-100, and it contains 20 multiple-choice questions: 13 literal comprehension and 7 analytical comprehension questions. Test #2, which covers pages 101-189, contains 23 multiple-choice questions (15 literal comprehension and 8 analytical comprehension) and one-short answer question on irony. Test #3 covers pages 190-265, and it contains 22 multiple-choice questions (16 literal comprehension and 6 analytical comprehension). Test #4, which covers pages 265-371, contains 25 multiple-choice questions (17 literal comprehension and 8 analytical comprehension).
On each test, the questions in both sections are chronological. This enables you to tell how far you students got – or didn’t get – in their reading, creating opportunity to address assignment completion with students. Each of these four tests is followed by an answer key that includes page references.
