Included in this pack are three different activities, a reader and an assessment to complete after reading the book, THE MITTEN, by Jan Brett. The activities included in this pack are:
-Vocabulary Activity: Four Levels. Copy words using anchor chart, copy words with visual support on page, trace words and fine motor lines.
-Reader: Two Levels. First Level - Students will read and then write in missing words using an anchor chart. Second level - Students will read and then trace the key vocabulary words on each page.
-Spatial Awareness: Students will read the sentences and match the correct location preposition to the sentence.
-Sequence: Students will sequence the events in the story.
-Assessment: Students will answer basic questions from the story.
This book companion is awesome to work on Fine Motor, Story Elements and comprehension IEP goals.
In my classroom, these activities are completed in literacy groups. The students are grouped into three levels. I run a group and my instructional assistants run the other groups. For three days we complete 1 activity per group per day. On the fourth day, we complete the assessment.
