This hands-on Chemistry activity is a great introduction to The Mole
covering: one step mole conversions, Avogadro's #, finding atomic mass, formula mass, molar mass, conversion factors needed for mole conversions, and definitions of empirical formula/molecular formula/percent composition.
(As this is an introduction to the topic, there are no 2 step problems or percent composition/empirical/molecular formula calculations.)
Domino Reviews keep students actively engaged and work well in pairs or small groups. Students enjoy manipulating the card, making matches, and collaborating to complete the puzzle. I've also included a Word file for you to make your own custom domino review for another topic of your choosing. This review will work well in your physical science class as well.
This Domino Review prints well in black & white or in color.
This Package includes:
✅PDF File with 24 Domino Cards
✅Answer Sheets for Students (2 per page)
✅Teacher's Answer Key
✅Teacher instructions with photos & screenshot for printing and setup
✅Microsoft Word Template to Create your own Domino Reviews
✅Planning Sheet for Creating Custom Domino Review
TOPICS INCLUDED IN THIS PUZZLE:
●One Step Mole Conversions (5 problems using moles, grams, molecules, liters)
●Determine Atomic Mass/Formula Mass/Molar Mass (6 problems)
●Definition of Percent Composition/Empirical Formula/Molecular Formula
●Determine Empirical Formula from Molecular Formula (Use simple reduction)
●Selecting correct conversion factor for mole conversion problems
●STP temperature & pressure
DOMINOS IN ACTION
All 24 cards will link together from the START card and ending with the STOP card.
HOW TO SOLVE:
⚡Place the START card first and read its clue (on right of card)
⚡Slide the matching clue (on left of card) next to it.
⚡Continue with that card's clue and find the matching answer.
Students need not go in order. They can match small segments, then slide the chains together into a fully assembled puzzle.
⚡The final card will be the STOP card.
Once all 24 cards are linked, the small letters in the top right corner of each card are written on the student answer sheet. The answer sheets are a breeze to grade with the included Answer Key.

PRINTING YOUR CARDS: The PDF file has 6 large dominos per page which I prefer to print 12 dominos per sheet (easy to do) to make each domino about 2 ½“ in length. Otherwise you can print them with no changes to make Large size cards. The PDF contains instructions and a screen shot with printing instructions.
