This is a fun way to have students learn about word families! I always teach my students that words that sound similar and a spelled the same are part of a family and they all live in a house together. So this is a perfect pictorial representation of that concept and students will have fun recalling what they learned.
Use the poster to make a class list of word families, then have students make up their own word family house by writing the word and illustrating it in one of the windows of the house. This could even be used as an assessment instead of a practice activity.
Lots of word families included in this unit!
