Use this mini-lesson to help students understand how to find the THEME of their stories (the lesson the author wants us to learn). This lesson gives students examples of different themes in texts, as well as shows then how to use text evidence to support their idea for theme. In this lessons I use the stories
“Those Shoes” by Maribeth Boelts
“Invisible Boy” by Trudy Ludwig
“Salt in his Shoes” by Deloris Jordan and Roslyn Jordan
“More Than Anything Else” by Marie Bradby
These slides are editable so you may use a book of your choice if you prefer! I find that teaching my lessons digitally (instead of simply writing on an anchor chart) allows my students to be more engaged, and I can include fun photos, videos in order to enhance the lessons, and can save my lessons from year to year! Enjoy these slides and if you have any questions please feel free to send me a message through TpT!
