Use this lesson to help students understand how to find the THEME of their stories (the lesson the author wants us to learn) by having them notice characters reflecting throughout the story. Symbols that occur throughout a story can give us clues as to what the theme of the text may be. These symbols often represent bigger ideas and can be a great thing to notice when trying to determine the theme of a text. In this lessons I use the stories
