Description

Theme Exploration Project - Literary Terms made FUN!

Get to know your students!

Theme isn't just found in literary works...this group and individual project is a great way to get students thinking about literary THEMES from exploring theme songs of T.V. shows!

Students will work in groups to evaluate T.V. show theme songs, then choose a theme song for themselves and write a few paragraphs explaining why they chose their theme song. (Tips for following the R.A.C.E. answer method, as well as an anchor chart, and sample essay are included.)

An introduction and definition of "theme" is included, as well as an anticipatory set before beginning the project.

Sample lyrics and links to many T.V. show theme songs are included, but you could also choose your own!

Included:

“Friends” Theme Song

“Big Bang Theory” Theme Song

“Scooby Doo” Theme Song

“Phineas and Ferb” Theme Song

“Fresh Prince of BelAir” Theme Song

“Monday Night Football” Theme Song

“Good Life” Lyrics

You can use all of these, some of these, or choose your own songs. The activity will work with any theme song! You are definitely not bound to the ones I've chosen to work with.

Get students excited about theme with this fun group and individual project!
