Two complete programming projects with sample code, starter files, instructions, examples and 2 detailed rubrics. Both are usable at any time of the school year once students have a basic understanding of methods and how to call them. Using the graphic commands built into Java, this lets your student get creative while learning programming skills.
Project one (Picasso) is to design a Winter Scene as that was when my students used to be ready for their first big Project.
Project 2 (Emoticon) lets the students design their own Emoji and print it or share it.
The preview graphic was done by one of my first year students with no previous programming skills. He had been in class less than 2 weeks when he made it.
Sample code is provided to demonstrate each of the various commands and is input based so students can input parameters and immediately see the output on their screen.
Year in and Year out, this is one of my students favorite labs.
