A "cheat sheet" for students learning to use the basic 1-variable statistics on a TI-83+ calculator.
The instructions are broken into 5 parts:
1. To enter data into the calculator
2. To find the five number summary
3. Understanding the reults
4. How to clear your calculator
5. How to clear your lists
Each part of the instructions are broken down into two columns: "You Press" and "Screen Shows." This helps students know that they are on the right track as they complete the steps. There are also a lot of images to help students who are struggling readers not get caught up in the words on the calculator but focus on the math.
There are 2 different sets of instructions with the main difference being in the method used to clear the lists. I have found some teachers and some students prefer one way over another so both are included.
I have students glue this into their interactive math notebook when we first begin using calculators as part of our statistics unit. It makes a great and easy reference and is good for struggling students to go back and work through where they are getting mixed up.
