Lesson designed to review key functions in the TI-84 graphing calculator. Reviews important prerequisite calculator skills necessary for math instruction.
By the end of this lesson, students will be able to identify key buttons and features of the TI-84 graphing calculator, perform basic calculations and operations on a TI-84 calculator, solve math problems using TI-84 calculator. Agenda includes 1) do now introduction 2) converting between decimal/fractions 3) operations with fractions 4) challenge problem 5) graphing calculator scavenger hunt activity. **Newly updated calculators can insert fractions by typing [2nd] [ALPHA] [y=] in that button order.
I use this activity as a welcome back lesson after summer break.
