You can see the contents by looking at the PREVIEW. The skill levels in the Workbook are:
1 --- Concept Development
2 --- Consolidation
3 --- Fluency
There is a screener included that you can administer to the whole class and identify your ability groups.
The Concept Development group may need to work through the workbook systematically with a teaching assistant and hands-on materials when needed. These kids need to hear the language of maths while they are using their eyes and ears. The DONKEY card game is a good start for this group. Each table card has an array showing the number fact and the fun element of DONKEY means they want to play over and over. I find STEPPING STONES good for individuals in this group. By timing themselves to memorise the sequence of multiples, these kids get better and better. STEPPING STONES is a good transition activity from Concept Development. You will know when your Concept Development kids are ready for consolidation when they can tell you the sequence of multiples (or write them down).
The Consolidation group understand the principles of multiplication and have the language. This is the biggest group and they may only need to work through parts of the workbook as they develop accuracy and move to fluency. You may just copy individual pages for whole-class lessons. This group will benefit from all the games and the Task Cards.
The lucky kids who just need fluency will build automaticity with the timed worksheets. By recording their times as they go there will be motivation to get quicker. This group are ready for the Task Cards as well. I would put the cards in a Maths Centre and encourage independence by allowing access to the answers when a student works through them. This group will love the GRID GAME which also has a strategy element. Some of them may be able to organise a BINGO game for a group.
BINGO is a great game for the whole class and you can cater for up to 30 players by using groups. It's a great way to be inclusive as well.
The games I have included are:
The Grid Game 3x (a game for two players)
Stepping Stones 3x (an individual activity to learn the multiples - timed)
Master of Multiples 3x (a game for two players)
Monkey Multiples 3x (a game for two players)
Donkey Card Game 3x (a game for 2-4 players)
Bingo - 2 games - 3x and 3x+6x (2 to 30 players)
