My second unit of the year covers 5th grade TN SS Standards 5.29-5.32 and is called "Tennessee's Settlements and Conflict." These graphic organizers cover Standard 5.30.

The first graphic organizer is a timeline including the dates of significant events at the Watauga Settlement. The dates are provided, and students have to provide event details using text evidence. An online article, "The Watauga Compact and the Watauga Settlement," can be accessed at https://drive.google.com/open?id=1NowR4WFngz8d6XeR-zbAKatoRTJUeWG5. Here's a second link to the article if needed.

The second graphic organizer is an award. Students will choose an Early Tennessee Hero (either Dragging Canoe, Nancy Ward, or John Sevier) and create an award for that person including three reasons for their choice. Here are online articles you can use from the Tennessee Encyclopedia:

Dragging Canoe: https://tennesseeencyclopedia.net/entries/dragging-canoe/

John Sevier: https://tennesseeencyclopedia.net/entries/john-sevier/

Nancy Ward: https://tennesseeencyclopedia.net/entries/nancy-ward/

Here's the link to the corresponding HyperDoc.
