TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD COMPLETE UNIT PLAN
This assignment is designed to be used after students have completed the novel and can fully reflect on the theme of racial inequality.
Students will watch a 15 minute video (Youtube required) of Jane Elliot's famous "Blue/Brown eye experiment" where she examines the dangers of discrimination in a third grade class. This video always leaves an impression on my students and is one they never forget.
Included in your purchase is an assignment sheet with five questions. Four of the questions have students examine discrimination in the video, and the final question has them relate the video to the novel with regards to racial inequality and discrimination. Also included is a detailed answer key for review.
WHAT TEACHERS ARE SAYING ABOUT THIS RESOURCE
♥ Thank you for a great resource. Been looking for a way to bring this into my classroom for years. This makes it easy, thank you.
♥ Great addition to my TKAM unit!
♥ This was an eye-opening activity that I used as a post-reading activity with the novel. In retrospect, I'll use it as an anticipatory activity next year to gain the full effect. This is a great text-2-world connection lesson.
