Brought to you by Kodaly Music with Mrs Perry, this fun 'echo' song is great for teaching low so or timka. Included are 10 pages that allow you to teach one or the other. Read on to see what you get with this purchase:
*BACKGROUND - The name "tongo" is explained, as is what a mangrove is, as well as it's importance.
*MAPS - There are 4 clickable maps that zoom in on the Solomon Islands, Polynesia, where this song is from. You can relocate the star to indicate your school's location.
*PREP TIMKA - Read the rhythm, clap the rhythm, say the rhythm and when ready, tap the rhythm. It will turn into a timka, as well as turn color and produce a sound.
*PRESENT and PRACTICE TIMKA - Tap the timka and it produces a sound and is highlighted. On another page, it can be read as part of the full song. Tap on the meter of 2 and the 2 grows to point out the number of beats in a measure.
*MELODY - There is a melody only page. Read the color coded pitches and tap the low so. It will become highlighted and produce a sound. On another page, read the pitches written in black. Tap them and they change color. Use this feature to assess understanding of specific pitches, for example, all the "do" pitches are red.
*DIRECTIONS - This is an echo song that is also generally used for improvisation. The accompaniment page offers ideas on improvisation, and the game directions that use it are included.
*ACCOMPANIMENT - There are 2 pages of accompaniment. You may use what is written as part of the game or use what is written as jumping off points for improvisation.
*EMBEDDED ACCOMPANIMENT - Click on the 'd' that indicates where the do is at the beginning of each page and you will get guitar accompaniment.
