This is especially great for Middle School and Elementary School Spanish classes. Teach students the words: "Vive, visita, el bebe, esta sorprendida!" using a Total Physical Response and Storytelling approach. First, introduce the words in the PowerPoint and create a corresponding motion for these words. Then, show them the pictures in the PowerPoint to see if they can generate the correct Spanish word. Once they have internalized this vocabulary, move on to the Mad-Libs style story. Children LOVE to create the story and volunteer information to make the story humorous. This is an excellent way for students to really establish meaning with the vocabulary and internalize it. Afterwards, go through the PowerPoint again and have the students act out the story that they have created-a great assessment of student comprehension.
