PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

THIS IS A FUN ACTIVITY AND STUDENTS REALLY GET A HANDS ON UNDERSTANDING OF A SIMPLE YET CONFUSING CONCEPT. THE STUDENTS WILL CONNECT THE VERTICES OF A TRIANGLE WITH 3 MOVABLE SIDES.

USING SENTENCE STRIPS, YOU WILL CREATE 5-8 TRIANGLES THAT STUDENTS CAN CREATE, DESCRIBING THE CONNECTION BETWEEN THE TWO SMALLER SIDES AND THE LARGER. WHILE THEY ARE CREATING TRIANGLES THEY ARE CLASSIFYING AS WELL REVIEWING IMPORTANT TRIANGLE VOCABULARY.

THIS ACTIVITY REQUIRES 20 SENTENCE STRIPS AND BRADS. (HOLE PUNCHER AS WELL)

I HANG THESE IN CLASS 2 SIDES NEXT TO THE LONGER SIDE TO REMIND THE STUDENTS OF THE RULE. THE SENTENCE STRIPS WERE GREAT BECAUSE THEY GAVE A BIT OF NOVELTY TO AN OTHERWISE PAPER ASSIGNMENT. USING THE SENTENCE STRIP TRIANGLES I ALSO INTRODUCED THE ANGLE SUM THEOREM (180 DEGREES) LOTS OF GREAT WAYS TO USE WHEN THE DAY IS DONE.

THIS IS AN INTRODUCTION TO A LESSON. WHEN STUDENTS ARE DONE EXPLORING DISCUSS WHAT THEY FOUND. 2 OF THE SAMPLES DO NOT MAKE A TRIANGLE.
