MAKING MUSIC THEORY FUN! TUNE TRAVELS - a series of music games for use with students individually or in groups. The games reinforce reading and aural recognition of rhythms, solfa and notes, and also a ready knowledge of key signatures, musical symbols, terms and forms. They take from 10 minutes to ½ hour to play and can be played by 2 to 6 students (although by having partners as many as 12 can play).
I have purposely made them suitable for a small group so that the teacher finds it easier to recognize the needs of individual students. They are also adaptable for use in the music classroom by simply printing more copies.
The games teach the material required for elementary theory exams, such as the Royal Conservatory examinations.
If this book encourages a student to enjoy music,
it will have fulfilled its purpose.
I am most grateful to Connie Foss More and Angela Martin and Frona Colquhoun for introducing me to the philosophies of Zoltan Kodaly, Maria Montessori and Shinichi Suzuki.
