TURKEY TROUBLE ACTIVITIES - Use with out without the book
If you are looking for a November writing project, you will be thrilled with this differentiated resource that pairs perfectly with the book Turkey Trouble, but also can be used on its own.
-a template of a turkey printable for kids to disguise
-nouns and adjective organizers for descriptive writing
-a letter or note to send home to the parents if you choose to do it as a family project
-graphic organizers for descriptive and persuasive writing
-final copy thematic paper to publish student writing
-class book covers if you want to create a collaborative book of student writing
Teachers love the flexibility this resource provides. Because there are so many differentiated pages enclosed you can use it year after year even if you switch grade levels. It also makes it easy to offer differentiated materials to students with varied abilities.
This Disguise a Turkey resource can be used in a variety of ways:
-Have the students write a persuasive paragraph from the perspective of the turkey.
-Have the students write an opinion paragraph about if the turkey should be eaten.
-Have the students write a descriptive paragraph describing the turkey in disguise.
-Younger learners can even use the printable pages to draw the turkey.
This has been a favorite of my students and of the thousands of students who have used this over the years. The finished projects make a great November bulletin board.
This resource has been used with great success in first grade, second grade, third grade, fourth grade and fifth grade. I have personally completed it in class with my students and also sent it home as a November homework project. Both were great option.
