Freetypinggames.net is a free area to learn typing but how do we use this awesome resource with our students and still meet their skill levels and get the grades and growth we need to?!
Please download this video to see how I make it work for me! YES! This is something I use in my room and scroll to the bottom to see what kids are saying about it!
Please note this isn't for everyone and requires more work than some curriculum HOWEVER more results because it is student-reward centered!!!
I usually see 4-8 wpm improvement in a packet with one or two lessons at 2-4wpm +.
However this year my results have been even higher (4th & 5th grade vs 3rd last year)
If you like this packet please see Lesson #1 on my TpT store. I have 3 different packets that will cover the entire keyboard. They cost 10.00 as an introductory price. Please understand that you can purchase this onetime and never need to buy curriculum again which can cost 1300-1800 OUTRAGEOUS!
I'm getting better results with this and honestly I love that their work ethic is improving because they are in charge of their own rewards.... INSTEAD OF JUST COMPLETING something and having a grade handed to them. This eliminates the "I don't care about my specials grade because it doesn't count toward anything." issue.
Also if they ask why they have to use a keyboard cover: Would you stare at an xBox controller while you played it?! (This answer works every time and cause for great discussion!)
"I love this because if I work hard, I get rewarded! Those whom don't try their best, they have to keep working at it."
"I don't even want my game time, I just want to see how fast I can go!"
"I get to start with games today because I mastered my Lesson #3, I retook it 10x, but I finally got it MASTERED!"
These are real comments I hear every day!
Hope you like it!
Also please keep this how to video on your computer for future reference (it will always be free here as well! I did include a video in my packets but apparently my built in microphone wasn't working at school :( However there is a great "mime" show on those videos!
