I love this product and use it myself! Every preschooler can relate to these everyday pictures.
Includes: 36 Cards: 12 foods, 12 animals, 12 activities/events, 1 question card
Purpose: To spark conversation (and relationships) among quiet children! To teach and model how to initiate conversation, attend to response, and to reciprocate. They help young kids state similarities and differences to build on their knowledge of each other (e.g., we both like ketchup!).
Perfect for snack time, lunch time or Centers.
Great for SLP's to Push-in OR for Teaching Assistants to use.
•How to use: Print out on card stock (colored cards tock works best). No need to laminate! :)
•Fold single pages in half and place in the center of a table (like a tent).
•Consider keeping a set in the classroom for push-in practice on pragmatic language skills.
•Display and verbally model the question one student can repeat.
•What do you like better?
•What do you like more?
•Which one is your favorite?
•Students eventually memorize this question and begin to ask it on their own. Even non-verbal or low verbal, bi-lingual children ‘get’ it and can respond and ask (by pointing).
•Model how to expand (e.g., You both like hotdogs better. Ask Mike what he likes more, ketchup or mustard?)
•Expand to practice narratives: Tell me about a time you went on a train. Or use to increase expressive language skills.
