In this activity, students will solve two-step equations with integers while working in four-person cooperative learning groups. The equations have integer answers; some equations have coefficients that are fractions. This activity can be used as a review game or as practice after a lesson.
In each round, the group members solve different equations and then add their solutions together for a tabletop total. The group earns points when they get the tabletop total correct. This game is a competition for points, not a race. Students are encouraged to check over each other's work to earn the most points. The problems in each round are differentiated. Problem D is the most challenging, and Problem A is the least challenging.
This file includes instructions, an answer key, a score sheet for student use, and five rounds of the game.
