When teaching how to write a paragraph, teachers usually go to the hamburger illustration to explain the components of a paragraph. Using the hamburger paragraph was not making a connection for me or my students, and there is only so many toppings kids use on their hamburger. I wanted to make it fun interesting and something my students could relate to.
That is when I created the Taco paragraph writing. This unit is divided into 6 lessons that teaches step by step skills that students will need to write a good meaty paragraph with many details.
This unit includes: Diagrams that show hand movements, taco paragraph writing chart and poster (you will have to glue the pages together to make the poster), 6 SIOP lesson plans, worksheets for students to practice each lesson, graphic organizers for writing a paragraph, and a template for students to write their own taco paragraph.
