We have a small pond in the backyard that attracts frogs every warm summer in Tennessee. They are so loud, you would think they are bullfrogs. Boy were we surprised to find 2 inch frogs! My daughter loves spending hours out back exploring, catching, and nurturing the tadpoles and frogs. It has been an amazing experience to catch and photograph these creatures in all their different phases!
I hope you enjoy this presentation that includes the phases of the frog life cycle along with the informational descriptions to connect a series of scientific ideas. Students will also be able to discuss and explain how specific images contribute to and clarify the text. I created this to provide science and writing connections to my 2nd grade literacy unit on The Mysterious Tadpole.
Includes two life cycle maps (4 boxes and 6 boxes) and an explanatory writing piece.
This product incorporates TN Science standard 0207.4.2, CC Literacy standard RI.2.3, RI.2.7, and CC Writing standard W.2.2, and can be adapted to the corresponding standards in first or third grade.
